When Your Huts on Fire!

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, ‘God! How could you do this to me?’
Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! ‘How did you know I was here?’ asked the weary man of his rescuers. ‘We saw your smoke signal,’ they replied.

The Moral of This Story:
It’s easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn’t lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering.

Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground.
It just may be a smoke signal that summons
the Grace of God.

P.S. Consider passing this on, because you never know who feels as if their hut is on fire today..

I was taking a look at Joyce Meyers magazine online this morning and the headline “Do you feel inadequate? ” jumped out at me!   I’m thinking “Great, now here’s an article I need to read!”  I wonder, do you feel that way too?  Below I’ve given you the link to the magazine PDF, I hope it will help you realized you aren’t alone in the way you might be feeling right now and I pray it ministers to you.  Here’s part of what BY STASI ELDREDGE had to say about feeling inadequate…

“I have friends who are absolutely
beautiful. But when someone pays them
a compliment, you can see it bounce off
them like a tennis ball.” … (more)

Trust God, Not Yourself

Trust God, Not Yourself

Joyce Meyer

July 20
Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
Proverbs 3:5

When you face times of crisis in life you need direction. All of your human reasoning will not provide the answer—it will only add to your confusion. But God will give you direction if you trust Him.

This truth is sometimes difficult for you to deal with because your human nature wants to understand everything. You want things to make sense, but the Holy Spirit can cause you to have peace about things that make no sense at all to your natural mind.

If you are hurting because of a crisis in your life, you must not become angry with God. He is the only one who can help you. Only He can bring the lasting comfort and healing you need. So continue to believe in the goodness of God and lean on, trust in, and be confident in Him.

Where the Mind Goes, the Man Follows

Where the Mind Goes, the Man Follows by Joyce Meyer

I have done a lot of teaching in the past twenty-five years, and I am convinced that one of the greatest areas in which we need help is the area of our thinking. No matter how many messages you and I hear about the mind, we can always benefit from hearing another one.

I believe that where the mind goes, the man follows. Continue reading

What If You Only Ate Food in TV Ads?

From “Thatsfit.com”

If you were to only eat food that was advertised on television, you would be in a sorry state indeed.

Your diet would be laden with huge amounts of sugar and fat and virtually no fresh fruit and vegetables, according to researchers from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia who analyzed what would happen if someone ate 2,000 calories a day only from foods that were advertised on TV.

The research team, led by Michael Mink, analyzed the food advertised during 84 hours of prime time broadcasts and 12 hours of Saturday morning broadcasts during one month in 2004.

Based on this analysis, a daily diet of food from TV ads would include the following:

* 25 times the recommended servings of sugar
* 20 times the recommended servings of fat
* Less than half the recommended servings of vegetables, fruit and dairy products.

“The results of this study suggest the foods advertised on television tend to oversupply nutrients associated with chronic illness–e.g., saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium — and under-supply nutrients that help protect against illness — e.g., fiber, Vitamins A, E and D, calcium and potassium,” Mink said in a news release.

The findings were published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

Joy Makes You Strong

July 14

As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried. He is a Shield to all those who trust and take refuge in Him.
— 2 Samuel 22:31

Nehemiah 8:10 says, “Be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.” Being happy and joyful makes you strong, and being mad or sad makes you weak. But the Lord is a Shield, and the Lifter of your head (See Psalm 3:3).

Satan isn’t after your joy; he is after your strength. The devil wants you too weak to pray. He wants you worn out and burned out. But the Lord will lift your head and shield you from the devil’s plot against you, if you put your trust in Him.

Bitterness Hinders Hearing … Asthma Solution …

THIS Asthma Solution Costs No Money… (from Dr. Mercola)

Bitterness Hinders Hearing… (Joyce Meyer)

July 13 Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind). — Ephesians 4:31 Bitterness toward God is a sure hindrance to hearing His voice. Any-time bitterness tries to take hold of you, refuse it. Many times, the devil tries to make us think we are the only ones having a hard time. I don’t mean to sound unsympathetic, but no matter how bad our problems are, someone else always has a worse problem. A woman worked for me whose husband walked out on her after thirty-nine years of marriage. He simply left her a note, and was gone. It was a tragedy for her! I was so proud of her when she came to me after a few weeks and said, “Joyce, please pray for me that I will not get mad at God. Satan is tempting me so severely to get mad at Him. I can’t get mad at God. He’s the only friend I have. I need Him!” Bitterness was trying to take root in my friend’s heart because her life had not turned out the way she wanted it to. When we get hurt, we must realize that every person has a free will and we can’t control that free will—even through prayer. We can pray that God will speak to people who may hurt us; we can ask Him to lead them to do right instead of wrong, but the bottom line is that He must leave them to make their own choices. If someone makes a choice that hurts us, we shouldn’t blame it on God and become bitter toward Him.

God’s word for you today: If you get hurt, don’t ever blame God.  He is the best friend you have. From the book Hearing from God Each Morning: 365 Daily Devotions by Joyce Meyer. Copyright © 2010 by Joyce Meyer. Published by FaithWords. All rights reserved.

The Love of God!

Put together all the tenderest love you know of, the deepest you have ever felt and the strongest that has ever been poured out upon you, and heap upon it all the love of all the loving human hearts in the world, and then multiply it by infinity, and you will begin perhaps to have some faint glimpses of the love and grace of God!

This is your Independence Day!

This is your Independence Day!

7-4-2010

This is the day that the Lord has made.  Are you ready to be free?  Then declare this day your Independence Day!

Rejoice and be glad in it.

This is the day to declare that you are free from the bondage of sin.  No longer are you a slave to sin but a slave to righteousness.  It is for freedom that you have been set free.  You have been redeemed and ransomed with the blood of the Lamb.

No longer a slave to this world or the kingdoms of men.  You are a Citizen of Heaven.  You are seated with Him in heavenly places.  You are a child of God.  You have His seal of approval.

You are a Son of Glory.  You are a Daughter of Zion.

You are an Overcomer!

You have the approval of the King to use His name.  Will you use it?  At His name, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord.  The Name of Jesus.  The Name above all names.  You have the authority of the King to rule and reign with Him this day.

The Kingdoms of this world are becoming the Kingdoms of our God.  The Kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force.  Will you fight this day?

Put on the whole armor of God.  Rise up this day and receive your heavenly position to rule and reign with the authority of the name of Jesus and the Word of God.  Take your place.  Make your stand.  Fight the good fight of faith.  Freedom is yours!
